Tribotecc, AVL Join to Tackle Euro 7 Rules

Jul 12, 2023Jul 12, 2023

ARNOLDSTEIN, Austria – Tribotecc, renowned for its specialization in metal sulfides and its testing capabilities, and AVL, known for development, simulation and testing in the automotive industry and beyond, have joined forces to pool their expertise, knowledge and resources to find solutions that will ensure the brake industry is prepared to meet the requirements of Euro 7.

The upcoming Euro 7 emissions regulations, and further global standards that might ensue, are a concern for brake manufacturers as the stringent emission norms and standards place greater emphasis on reducing particulate matter and hazardous pollutants from vehicle components.

As part of this collaboration, AVL will leverage its engineering capabilities and experience in automotive technologies to develop innovative test methods and simulation techniques. AVL’s state-of-the-art testing facilities in Graz will serve as the epicenter for research and development efforts aimed at comprehensively analyzing the environmental impact of braking systems under Euro 7 guidelines. Brake Attribute Engineering – the optimization of the entire system through modified components – up to homologation at the vehicle level completes the service portfolio.

Based on its knowledge of tribology and material science, Tribotecc will work hand in hand with AVL’s experts to develop novel, high-performance friction additives that help to meet Euro 7 emission standards while ensuring optimal braking efficiency and safety.

Both AVL and Tribotecc share a common vision of promoting sustainability and advancing technology to create a cleaner and greener automotive future. The collaboration represents a significant milestone in their commitment to support the brake industry’s transition to Euro 7 standards.

“We are excited to partner with Tribotecc, a well-known metal sulfide specialist, to address the challenges brought forth by the Euro 7 regulations in the brake industry,” said Stefan Bruhnke, Business Field & Technical Field Leader Vehicle of AVL. “With our combined knowledge and commitment to sustainability, we are confident that our collaboration will not only meet the regulatory requirements but also exceed expectations, delivering eco-friendly brake solutions that maintain the highest standards of safety and performance and satisfy our customers.”

“We are delighted to join forces with AVL in this ambitious project,” said Stefan Greimel, CEO of Tribotecc. “Euro 7 compliance is a complex issue for the automotive sector. Collaboration is key to address these challenges. As functional additives and metal sulfide specialists, we can leverage our long-standing expertise to develop next generation friction additives that will set new benchmarks through this partnership. We aim to support the entire industry and even better serve our clients for future challenges.”
